Reflection
I really enjoyed my Main Idea hyperdoc because it allowed my students to choose between different tasks. This increased their interest. Even on the activity where they all chose the same game, they liked being able to choose for themselves.
My students were more engaged as a whole group than normal during my reading lessons. It took the entire class time to complete, and they stayed on task the entire time. This is worth a lot, especially for this group of chatty, easily distracted students.
I loved including a wide variety of tasks in my hyperdoc, from videos, to games, to direct application with a text. The variety allowed my students to practice this skill in more than one setting. This is especially difficult for my special education students.
The biggest thing I'm looking forward to next time I use this activity is using it sooner in the school year. We had been working on this skill for half the year before I used it and I saw an increase in their ability to apply these skills after completing the activity. The biggest improvement I want is to create more similar hyperdocs. I'm sure I can get faster given more practice.
